Swastha Yoga practice

Originating in India, the earliest teachings date back some 5000 years and today Yoga is widely recognized and there are many disciplines/styles taught in the modern world.

Understanding the roots and ancient philosophies of yoga in its truest sense is a vast topic to explore, however, in the western world, Hatha Yoga, is generally understood to be a set of practices including asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) & simple meditation which are intended to maintain overall health and wellbeing for body and mind.

The traditional Hatha style of yoga connects body, breath and mind and should be performed in such a way that the practice is steady, comfortable and without pain. Regular practice and consistent progress results in the ability to go deeper into the asana and to hold for longer periods.

Yoga Therapy, Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra

Generally classes are appropriate for a wide range of people, however, more recently the therapeutic application of yoga & more restorative, nourishing practices in a one to one setting are being utilised as a powerful tool for health & a natural way to manage, and in some cases completely cure, many illnesses & disorders.

With a qualified yoga therapist, this truly different application of yoga harnesses its much wider healing power & is a perfect fit with the Ayurvedic approach too - holistic, personalized & tailored according to the individual/specific groups.

Exploring yoga with a more specialised yoga therapy teacher can be especially helpful if you find yourself in a new phase of life (Menopause) or looking for ways to manage an illness or condition (Sciatica, Anxiety, Stress, Insomnia)
